MEDiThings, a healthcare technology startup developing a wearable bladder monitoring solution, secured bridge investment from Kakao Ventures and D.CAMP.

The article introduced MEDiThings as a company developing a bladder monitoring device and a personalized bladder care platform for patients with bladder dysfunction. The solution is designed to help patients more easily manage urination and catheterization timing by allowing them to check bladder-related information through a smartphone application.

The article highlighted the unmet needs of patients with neurogenic bladder and other bladder dysfunction conditions. Many patients with neurological conditions such as spinal cord injury or dementia have difficulty recognizing the need to urinate and may need to use intermittent catheterization at scheduled times. If urine is not emptied at the right time, complications such as urinary tract infections, bladder stones, and kidney function decline may occur.

MEDiThings aims to address these challenges by improving convenience and accessibility in bladder monitoring. The company’s compact wearable device is designed to be attached to the lower abdomen and used together with AI-based analysis and a mobile application. The system is intended to help users better understand their condition and receive alerts when the device position needs adjustment.

The article also noted that MEDiThings was founded by Aram Kim, CEO of MEDiThings and a urologist specializing in neurogenic bladder, together with Sehwan Kim, a biomedical engineering expert with deep experience in optical diagnostic technologies. The combination of clinical expertise and engineering capabilities was presented as one of the company’s key strengths.

With the bridge investment, MEDiThings planned to further advance clinical research, global expansion, and the development of a personalized bladder dysfunction management platform. The article also highlighted the company’s ambition to reduce the burden of handwritten voiding diaries by enabling more automated and structured bladder care data management.

Kakao Ventures’ Chi-Won Kim stated that the firm highly valued MEDiThings’ efforts to solve concrete patient problems by combining expertise in both medical and technology fields. Aram Kim also emphasized the company’s goal of supporting patients’ treatment and daily activities through a high-quality bladder monitoring device and personalized bladder care platform.
